This book investigates gender diversity practices and discourse developed by listed companies in Turkey, building on Bourdieus field approach and implementing a Thematic Analysis. The findings suggest that the implementation of gender diversity practices may require a transformation of perspective and the conditions regarding the political, economic, and cultural realm for realization of a pervasive movement.

The purpose of this book is to delve into the practices and discourses surrounding gender diversity developed by listed companies in Turkey. It seeks to achieve this objective by advancing knowledge about the business relations that impact workplace gender diversity. Building upon Bourdieu's field approach, the research employs a Thematic Analysis, following the guidelines set forth by Braun and Clarkes (2006). The findings of the book are grounded in data collected through unstructured interviews and secondary sources, including official documents from national and international organizations, newspapers, legislation, and relevant web pages.

The findings of this research suggest that the implementation of gender diversity practices may necessitate a shift in perspective and the creation of favorable conditions in the political, economic, and cultural realms to foster a widespread movement. Unfortunately, due to the conservative and patriarchal culture, authoritarian rule, and neoliberal policies prevalent in Turkey, gender diversity and inclusion are not regarded as issues that require the commitment and collaboration of a field. Consequently, diversity management practices are often instrumentalized by the business community as tools for corporate communication and image building rather than actively fostering a diverse workforce.

This book aims to contribute to the understanding of gender diversity practices and discourses in Turkey by shedding light on the challenges and opportunities faced by listed companies in this context. It provides valuable insights into the dynamics of business relations and their impact on workplace gender diversity, and offers recommendations for promoting a more inclusive and equitable workplace.
