Vintage PADCO Mallard Drake Decoy--Man Cave, Cabin, Den, or Lodge
This is a vintage PADCO Mallard Working Decoy made by the PADCO Company of Pascagoula, Miss. The Decoy was made by a duplicating lathe which resulted in the characteristic ridges typical of PADCO Decoys. There is no Company name or logo but the beaver-tail like tail, flat bottom, and the triangular shaped speculum with white edging prove it to be a PADCO Decoy. Their decoys were made from native pop ash or tupelo gum, both woods which were light and floated well. They were highly regarded for their quality, durability, and resemblance to real ducks. This one is in good condition although it shows being well used in the field. It measures 14.75 inches long, 5.5 inches wide, and 6.5 inches tall. It weighs 1 pound, 13 ounces.
The PADCO Company was founded in 1940 and has an interesting history. They made a range of types of duck decoys and a variety of other wood products. The Company closed in 1971 but had ceased makin
